Happy New Year!

Happy 2014 everyone!  Hope your holidays were fantastic.  The new year has been off to a slow start around here due to a nasty cold I picked up.  (Too much celebrating I guess... he he :)

Now that I'm finally on the mend, I wanted to share a last minute Christmas gift I whipped up for my Mom before the big day.  Have you heard about mug rugs?  They are like coasters, only slightly larger, meant to hold a mug of your favorite beverage and a small snack.  This one is approx. 9"x 6".

The snowman was applied using fusible raw edge applique, with top stitching around the edges.  I can see more mug rugs in my future as this one was really fun to make! :)

My hope is to share more quilt and embroidery projects this year.  I've been working on several pattern ideas that should hopefully be ready to share soon...

Now, about this new year in front of us...  I've always enjoy beginning a new year because it feels like getting a fresh start in a way.  Brushing off all those things that didn't necessarily pan out during the last year, and beginning anew.  Have you selected a word for the year?  Do you get into that sort of thing?  I haven't done so in the past, but think it's a neat idea, so I've decided to try it out for 2014...  The word I've landed on for this year is "courage".  Courage to put myself out there more, courage to share more on this blog, and courage to finally take the leap and publish some patterns.  I'm excited to see where this takes me, and hope you'll come along with me for the ride. :)  Here's to a productive 2014 filled with new beginnings and much creativity!

Thanks for stopping by!
